"PSYCHOLOGICAL COMMENTARIES"
Notes on the Fourth way

After realizing that beyond the surface of what we call LIFE, there lies something bigger and more important; I have found a system, or rather a way of being that has as its Supreme AIM and objective, the concept of making man more CONSCIOUS.

These ideas did not totally originate with me, although they are mine. Some are from influences from the "Circle of Conscious Humanity"; some are derived from experience of life.

The whole of this work is about a change of BEING. Every change in circumstances provides a very useful chance for everyone to learn something. Everything REPEATS itself in one's own life! ...All of this belongs to the immensely deep idea that the LEVEL OF ONE'S BEING ATTRACTS ONE'S LIFE.

Man* is born as a SELF DEVELOPING BEING. All development of BEING arises in the direction of attaining union, and culminates with the Unity of Being. This concept is in opposition to the multiplicity of being: False personality or Acquired Being. This may be considered the "Psychic Factor" of man, i.e. habits, do's, don'ts, etc, formed through- out life. This acquired being is what keeps man a mechanical organism. A machine ceases to be a machine when it becomes responsible for its actions. This type of man has thousands of false ideas and conceptions, mainly about himself.

The greatest misconception is that Man has control or is able to DO anything. In actuality, everything simply happens to Man. The idea of karma is deeply rooted in this concept. Man thinks he is creative and is able to organize his life, but it is not so. This is the most offensive thing you can tell someone because this is TRUTH, and few want to hear the truth about themselves.
Everything is dependent on everything else; everything is connected, nothing is separate. Therefore everything is unfolding in the only way it can. Realization of the fact that we are at the mercy of forces we cannot control at this point in our development is the beginning of Understanding.

Man, consequently, has no "CENTER"....Therefore work on oneself is difficult, if not impossible! We say "I" to everything: I have, I love, I fear, etc.
If we consider ourselves as one, then no struggle can develop. Without conflict or struggle, we cannot change. We imagine we are Conscious and always know what we are thinking, saying, and doing. We imagine we are a Unified being, and have a "Center" or a permanent "I", and thus have a WILL of our own.
At any moment the strangest thoughts and images can enter us. If we IDENTIFY, or say "I" to them, or think we have control over them, then these ideas have the power to convince us that we are right!
Further, the meaning of every single thing can change, according to the way we consider or "hold" things, events, or relationships. A person acts from Good according to his level of being, or from what appears to him as good. (For example: I used to Love, but now I don't, or revolution for the good of the people, or slavery for the good of the owners, etc. What is Good is relative, according to changes in current popular ideas, or changes in individual being.)

If you regard a thing as worthless, you will not value it. You will always think in the same way unless you have NEW KNOWLEDGE.
The first AIM is Self-Knowledge or knowledge of ones being, which will make you aware of your state of being. Understanding is a union between KNOWLEDGE and BEING. No one can understand beyond the level of his BEING.     Page 2
